Strategic Business and Public Affairs Services
Providing insight and ideas to help your organisation achieve its objectives
About Tim Wilson Associates
My Approach
My work encompasses public affairs, business strategy, research, media relations and more. Based in London and operating both in the UK and internationally, I have since April 2005 combined wide-ranging experience with a good pedigree of success.
Working closely with the client, I deliver a range of support, from high-quality one-off projects, through to long-term strategic advice and ad-hoc support.
I enjoy helping smaller organisations punch above their weight, as well as providing an outside perspective for larger organisations.
Flexible working methods and quality of delivery equip my clients with the services of a highly experienced professional without the overheads of a large consultancy.
I also act as an independent trustee for new employee-owned businesses.
The success of my approach is demonstrated by my having worked with each of several clients for periods of well over ten years.
Services
Strategic Overview and Support
Dealing with Government and regulatory processes is crucial to affecting decisions which could impact hugely on your company or organisation. But navigating the system remains challenging for those who are not used to engaging with it day-to-day. I can give strategic advice and assistance in building reputation and brand awareness in the policy space, in the form of a one-off review or ongoing high-level support. This work can include training and/or strategy workshops. I have worked with several clients this way, advising on how to meet their many policy goals and suggesting additional tools and techniques to help achieve them.
Reports, Publications and Communications Tools
Publications: Working where necessary with an experienced graphic designer, I am experienced in producing thoroughly-researched, well-written strategic plans; manifestos; annual reports; stakeholder bulletins; and detailed responses to Government, Parliamentary and regulatory consultations.
Rebranding: I have advised on organisations' rebranding, with a focus on ensuring effectiveness for public affairs activity. I also led on rebranding a small trade association, from renaming the organisation through to stakeholder outreach and media coverage.
Bespoke Training/Mentorship
I have over ten years' experience in training public affairs professionals from around the world. I can support individuals in growing their skills and confidence, for example I can work with professionals - at any level - who are new to the area and are now having to negotiate it as part of a new role.
Research Projects
I have experience in both overseeing and carrying out research projects, both qualitative and quantitative. In terms of conducting research, I am specifically experienced in qualitative surveys, interviewing high-level opinion leaders and producing reports and presentations on the key insights and trends.
Board Positions
I am highly experienced in working with boards and holding board positions. I am currently the Independent Trustee for two SME employee-owned trusts and have previously served as an executive or non-executive director on several boards, including: a licensing organisation distributing quarterly multi-million-pound sums; a Government-funded organisation distributing c£1m annually; a creative industry trade organisation; and a charity providing TV production training to young people from disadvantaged backgrounds.
